MATH
Caleb did Lesson 13 in Math, which covered square and rectangle shapes and counting by 5's, and as always, review of previously learned addition facts and practice with story problems. Caleb will take the Lesson 13 test tomorrow.
LANGUAGE ARTS
Caleb worked on writing and reading word endings. He really enjoyed a tug-of-war game we played where each side had to call out a word with a certain word ending before they could pull the rope. "I won 3 times, using words with IT, ED, and AY." Below is a sentence he wrote with IT and IX words, which he had fun illustrating (his bed had a tiger and lion, and he put a shark under mine). He also worked on a project that reinforces vowel sounds. We cut out lots of pictures out of magazines and he glued them to the vowel page that makes the sounds in the pictures. For example, the E page in the picture has pictures of egg, bed, red, beach, tree, teeth and more.
Caleb practiced reading aloud from his phonics books. We continued to read the bird book together and short stories from a reading book.
SCIENCE & S.S.
We worked with the world map some more this week, singing songs, playing games and doing role playing about living in different places in the world after finding them on the map. Caleb drew an arctic picture, adding words that were in his picture.
ART
Caleb did more painting this week, including painting salt clay figures he made.
P.E.
It was a cold, cold, snowy week so there weren't any outside activities this week! At Caleb's Art & Movement class the kids stayed inside and set up obstacles using the slides, balance beams, and trampolines.
